But instead of gushing over characters or complimenting her outfits, it turns out people really hone in on the actress’ height—or lack thereof. “You are shorter than I thought,” the first statement read, followed by, “Wow, you are REALLY short,” and “Gosh I thought you were taller”. “Yes, I really am THAT short 🤷🏼♀️,” Witherspoon wrote in the caption. Comments flooded in, including several from sympathetic fellow celebs. “I believe I used the word “petite” when we first met 😂,” Eva Chen, the director of fashion partnerships at Instagram, wrote in response. “And you still have 2 inches on me,” Kristin Chenoweth pointed out. “😂Short but MIGHTY,” Gwyneth Paltrow commented of the actress’s reported 5'1 stature. Christina Ricci noted that “It’s amazing we’re able to function really, us shorties,” while Jesse Williams left a bunch of laughing emojis followed by one shrugging, suggesting he was guilty of being one of those people.
