This is the caption that accompanies an intimate, never-bef0re-seen picture taken ofPrincess Eugenie and her new husbandJack Brooksbank dancing at their wedding reception, which Eugenie released on her official Instagram account to celebrate three years of marriage. In the lovely picture, Jack embraces his wife while she beams over his shoulder at the camera. The couple tied the knot at Windsor Castle in October 2018. We were also treated to a second previously unseen photo of the big day, on behalf of Eugenie and Jack’s wedding photographer Sandra von Riekhoff, who released a photo of Eugenie travelling in the Glass Coach on her way to tie the knot. She wrote, “One of my favourites of HRH Princess Eugenie on her way to make it official. What an honour. Three years ago today gorgeous one…Happy Anniversary to you both!” In the picture released by Eugenie of the newlyweds dancing at the reception, the princess is wearing her second wedding dress: a pale pink gown by Zac Posen. At the time, it was revealed that the “choice of colour reflects the blush of an English rose,” adding, “Mr Posen took his inspiration from the White Rose of York.” Hours earlier, Eugenie’s wedding dress for the ceremony itself made waves around the fashion world as she ascended the long steps to the door of St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The white portrait-neckline gown, with its fitted bodice, full skirt, and billowing train has a timeless quality to it—a perfect look for the ninth in line to the throne. In a statement, the palace said that the dress was developed “layer by layer” and that the fabric was created especially by the designers to incorporate symbols “that are meaningful to Princess Eugenie as motifs.” These symbols include a thistle to represent Scotland, where Eugenie’s beloved Balmoral Castle is located; a shamrock for Ireland, to acknowledge the Irish heritage of Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Ferguson; the York Rose (well, she is the Princess of York); and ivy, representing Ivy Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace, where the couple lives. (Ivy was also included in Eugenie’s wedding bouquet.) The symbols were then woven into an intricate jacquard of silk, cotton, and viscose blend in the beautiful Lake Como region of Italy. It was expected that Eugenie would wear the York tiara, which was made specially for her mother the Duchess of York on her wedding day in 1986. But instead she emerged in the stunning Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, which is a bandeau tiara made of platinum and diamonds pavé, and set with six emeralds. The tiara was made in 1919 in a style popular at the time in the Russian Imperial Court. It was bequeathed to Queen Elizabeth II in 1942, who loaned it to her granddaughter on her wedding day. Her matching diamond and emerald drop earrings were a wedding gift from the groom. As the celebrations continued over the weekend, Eugenie even had a third wedding outfit made that was pretty different from the two elegant gowns that preceded it: a white mini dress and a silk pink biker jacket—the back of which was embroidered with “Mrs Brooksbank” in Eugenie’s own handwriting.
