Here’s your chance to score some! Wednesday, July 13, is National French Fry Day, and some of the country’s most popular fast food chains are giving away the highly-consumed side dish for free to celebrate.

National French Fry Day 2022 Deals

McDonald’s National French Fry Day 2022 Deal

This year, McDonald’s is marking the occasion by hosting an in-person hiring event—with a side of free large fries, of course. Though the event is exclusive to participating locations in the Philadelphia, South New Jersey and Delaware areas, the chain is offering a free order of large fries (no purchase necessary), all day long exclusively in the McDonald’s app. Customers can claim the offer directly via the app, and redeem it on July 13.

Wendy’s National French Fry Day 2022 Deal

If you prefer Wendy’s over McDonald’s, don’t panic! The home of the Frosty is offering Fry Week—free deals for an entire week with select purchases. Depending on the day, patrons can grab free fries or seasoned breakfast potatoes with any mobile purchase order via the fast food franchise’s app, from July 11-15.

Burger King’s National French Fry Day 2022 Deal

Burger King isn’t missing out on National French Fry Day either. Member’s of the chain’s Royal Perks loyalty program get free fries all year. So, the Home of the Whopper is upping the ante with free Chicken Fries (battered white meat chicken in the shape of a French fry) with every $3 purchase on July 13. The offer is available via the BK app, BK.com and at participating restaurants. It is not available via delivery. “Ultimately the goal for McDonald’s, Wendy’s and other chains with loyalty programs is to increase sales and lure in customers — ideally on a daily basis — by offering reasons to choose them over their competitors,” per CNN. “The programs also give restaurant owners access to customers’ data and ordering habits that help target diners with customized deals.” Many franchises have reported an uptick in customer loyalty, driven primarily by app usage and exclusive offers. The McDonald’s rewards app reportedly has over 26 million members since its launch a year ago. “We’re also seeing more frequent visits from loyalty customers, many of whom were very loyal to begin with,” the restaurant’s CFO Kevin Ozan said on a recent CNN Business earnings call. “Some of our largest markets have seen record customer visit frequency driven by loyalty usage coupled with app exclusive promotions.” Meanwhile, the Wendy’s program, now two years old, had about 19 million signups as of the end of last year. “It helps speed up the drive-thru, helps drive order accuracy, helps with quickness of payment and then ultimately provides a lot of benefit for us over time as we get all that information to better connect to our consumer on a one-to-one basis,” the chain’s CEO Todd Penegor stated on the call.
